Russia means not only matreshka dolls, bears and red star of the USSR emblem. My Russia is a great country of genius poet Alexander Pushkin, candid lyrics of Sergey Esenin; it's a bright sample of aristocracy in the person of last russian tsar Romanov and his family, the tragedy of lost imperial power; it's the magnificent artworks of Isaak Levitan, extraordinary Vrubel's art, chaotic paintings of Kandinsky; Russia means the most gorgeous ballet "Swan Lake" and prima ballerina Maya Plisetskaya; it's the splendid temples and churches, beautiful sunsets over the river, balmy meadows and deep forests. I hate the fact some of my fellow-countrymen have forgotten about that. It's hard to see piles of garbage here and there, stray animals, immature grownups with lack of will who prefer to turn a blind eye to all those problems, who just don't want to to assume responsibility for their own lives and acts. Every single person has to understand what his liabilities are, not just expect somebody else to carry his burden.

With best wishes, Alexandra.

I would love to go to Russia! Saint-Petersburg! Do svidaniya!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree about what you had said. We should all try to contribute to the country we live in and those that we have come from...and be aware of the beauties of our own culture because every culture makes this world richer...I feel that often people today forget about their own culture or their don't appreciate it in the right way. They think there is some place where everything is ideal but such country doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of stereotypes about Russia, but also about Slavs in general. It is as we always have to prove that we are part of the west or part of the Europe...
Maya Plisetskaya....I adore her, she is such an inspiration! I love Russian writers, I've been reading them since I was an adolescent and I never get tired of them. I also like Russian language, but I never manage to find the time to learn it properly though I can understand (and sometimes speak) it a little.
I'm absolutely agree with you. There is no perfect place on this big Earth, but it's up to us to make this world around us shine! Russian language is a really beautiful one, we can be proud of our grand literary heritage.
DeleteThank you so much for such a deep thoughtful comment, Ivana!
I agree...it is up to us to appreciate the beauty of any place we happen to find ourselves in. As for literature...Today the focus is mostly on literature written in English...which is understandable but at the same time literature of other countries often gets ignored...and when a book gets translated it is not the same...and yet we must rely on translations, as it is impossible for one person to speak an infinite number of languages.
DeleteHi dear, theres so much to love and explore about your country, you have a really interesting cultural and artistic history. You look so elagnt, love the shade of red.
ReplyDeleteThank you incredibly much, Sam! I do proud of my country, I wish all of my fellow-countrymen would feel same.
I've been really into some of the famous Russian writers too.Great accomplishments they have and your country has.I think in every country there's people like you mentioned on your post who don't want to assume responsibility.I have in my country too.We have the great Ottomans in our history but not everyone wants to accept this fact.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. You look great in red.

Thank you dear, Ozden. For sure, I know the hystory of Turkey too and I still can't figure out how could The Great Ottoman Empire had fallen to pieces, wondering where everything had gone wrong.
DeleteAnd regarding to your question of where I am on my outfit post,it's Fenerbahçe.I'm sure you visited there before but if you haven't you really should.
ReplyDeleteHaha, ther's a reastaurant called Khalkedon there near the sea and that's where we shot our pictures.A beautiful place,i would recommend you to visit there.Good prices as well.
DeleteThank you so much for the advice, I will definitely visit it)
DeleteAh you are so right!
ReplyDeleteIn many countries we have the same problem of people not appreciating what they have and refusing to assume responsibility..
It is wonderful that you acknowledge the beauty and worth of your country :)
You really have a way with words, Miss Alexandra! There are many things in every country that nobody wants to take responsibility for, or admit that even happened... I can think of a few here in the US that still go on today. But the fact that your country has made so many amazing accomplishments is great, too. There are goods and bads to everything. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, dear Ali! I'm quite agree with you. Everything has its disadvantages, though, each bad situation has a good side and it all depends on the way we look at it.
DeleteYou're so beautiful Alexandra, your hair is stunning. i would love to visit Russia one day, the architecture is incredible :D xx

ReplyDeleteDear Alexandra... I always loved Russia and have a great desire of visiting it one day.I think it's a cradle of culture anad country of great diversity. I'm also a huge fan of Russian literature and I grew up reading Dostoevsky and Anna Akhmatova... Lovely post and an amazing pictures as usual!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ivana, it's a pleasure to know you are fond of Russian literature. Russia worth visiting no doubt, especially St. Petersburg, to my mind the most gorgeous city of my country.
DeleteAlexander Pushkin is one of my favourite authors!

ReplyDeleteDearest Alexandra, I like it to see you this elegant dress with the bright red cardigan - fits perfect to you <3
ReplyDeleteRussia as country is fascinating me since a very long time and I think I have read much more than 100 books about Russia. I think there is really a difference between the population although I have got the impression during reading that the Russian mostly very friendly and often very intelligent, cultured and well educated people - like you. But on the opposite unfortunately there are Russian, which don´t appreciate the liberty and don´t know how to handle with it. Further I recognized that Alcohol often is responsible for problems ...
I hope really that I will sometimes in my life visit Russia - and not only read about it.
In the meanwhile I enjoy you and your wonderful blog with the knowledge that you are from Russia <3

Seriously, I'm pleasantly surprised that there so many wonderful people all over the world who know and love russian literature. Though, many foreigners also know about the problem with alcohol in here. This is really sad. It's killing our nation slowly.
DeleteIts sad how countries start going downhill because of the lack of responsibility people have. I wish I could one day travel to Russia and experience your rich culture.

What a beautiful post darling, I don't know much about Russia and it's natural beauty only about the bad things :o( which is a shame since I'm sure it's people are lovely

ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful post! I too love Kandinsky and Russian literature. Also really pretty photos, so calming by the water. Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I gladly followed you back on both :)

Great outfit and great pictures! This is not a post about fashion i guess. I love how you see your country. Great writting Alexandra.

This is so accurate, and I think it's the same in many countries. I've been in your country once, to St. Petersburg, and it was really lovely. People should be more aware of what their history holds, and respect their cultures and environments. And as always, lovely photos. Have a great day. :)

I'm suprised that you were in Russia, St. Pitersburg is one of my favourite cities in Russia. It'a a truly gorgeous city, full of remarkable sights!

Your Russia sounds fabulous. For me Russia is the place where all the people are blond with blue eyes, where the winter is winter, and the view is amazing! This is how I imagine it. I really never wondered how exactly looks:)
ReplyDeleteYep, here the winter is really harsh sometimes, though, russian people are not always a slavic type, we don't all have blue eyes and fair hair) That's another stereotype) Thank you for commenting)
